Regents Authorize National Lab Bid

Vice President for National Laboratories, Kim Bidil's, statement following the Regent's authorization to bid for the Los Alamos National Laboratory management contract: 

At the UC Board of Regents meeting on Thursday November 16th, the Board authorized the University to submit a bid for the management and operating contract of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration. By this action the UC Board of Regents expressed the University's continuing commitment to the stewardship of Los Alamos National Laboratory as an internationally recognized institution within the U.S. scientific and technological enterprise. UC's record of excellence in ensuring the highest quality and integrity of science at LANL, operating in the public interest, has been a service to the nation for the nearly 75-year history of this relationship. The University is committed to assembling a proposal that upholds this long tradition of public service, advances scientific and technological excellence, acknowledges and respects the importance of its world-class workforce, and ensures the continued high quality and integrity of its critical national security missions.
